Credential Letters of the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Holy See, 03.06.2025

This morning, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the Holy Father Leo XIV received in audience the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Holy See, His Excellency Mr. Victor Valdemar Suárez Díaz, on the occasion of the presentation of his credential letters.

The following is a brief biography of the new Ambassador:

Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Holy See

His Excellency Mr. Victor Valdemar Suárez Díaz was born on 6 November 1971 and is married with two children.

He studied at the Technological University of Santiago (UTESA) in the Dominican Republic, and was awarded a licentiate in law (1996-2000), a master’s degree in international relations (2012-2014) and a diploma in the Dominican Code of Criminal Procedure from the National School of Public Prosecution.

He has held the following offices: Head of Cabinet, Public Ministry (2004 - 2006), and member of the Parliament of the Dominican Republic (2006 - 2024), serving on the following Commissions as: President of the Special Commission for the National Regularization Plan, President of the Permanent Commission of the Public Ministry, President of the Institution of the Educational System in the Constitutional Reform (2010 - 2025), President of the Permanent Commission of Justice, President of the Commission of Foreign Relations and International Cooperation, and Head of the Judicial Axis for the Constitutional Reform (2010 - 2025)
