Late this afternoon, the Holy Father Leo XIV received in audience, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who subsequently met with His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, accompanied by the Reverend Msgr. Daniel Pacho, Undersecretary for the Multilateral Sector of the Section for Relations with States and International Organizations.

During the cordial discussions held at the Secretariat of State, the importance of the good bilateral diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Algeria was highlighted. Some aspects of the life of the Church in the country were also discussed.

As the conversation continued, reference was made to the current geopolitical situation, as well as the importance of interreligious dialogue and cultural collaboration in building peace and fraternity in the world.
