Resignation and appointment of bishop of Texcoco, Mexico
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Texcoco, Mexico, presented by Bishop Juan Manuel Mancilla Sánchez.
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Carlos Enrique Samaniego López, until now titular bishop of Cillio and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of México, as bishop of Texcoco, Mexico.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Samaniego López was born on 8 October 1973 in Mexico City. He was awarded a licentiate in canon law from the Universidad Pontificia de México and in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome.
He was ordained a priest on 4 January 2001, and incardinated in the metropolitan archdiocese of Tlalnepantla.
He has held the following offices: member of the group of formators of the minor and major seminaries; investigating judge of the archdiocesan tribunal; diocesan head of pastoral care of education, prefect of studies at the Seminary; member of the Presbyteral Council and the College of Consultors, defender of the bond, parish priest of the parish of San Francisco de Asís, and episcopal vicar of Pastoral Zone IV.
He was appointed titular bishop of Cillio and auxiliary of México on 16 February 2019, and received episcopal ordination on the following 25 March.
