Appointment of bishop of Jardim, Brazil

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Pedro Cesário Palma, O.F.M. Cap., until now parish priest of São Francisco de Assis in the diocese of Umuarama, in the State of Paraná, as bishop of Jardim, Brazil.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Pedro Cesário Palma, O.F.M. Cap., was born on 15 August 1961 in Pinhalão, in the diocese of Jacarezinho, in the State of Paraná.

He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Instituto dos Capuchinhos in Ponta Grossa – PR, and in theology at the Instituto Teológico de Santa Catarina (ITESC) in Florianópolis – SC. He subsequently continued his formation by studying parapsychology, and was awarded a licentiate in fundamental theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome.

He was ordained a priest on 22 February 1992.

He has held the following offices: professor of philosophy and theology (1994-2002), Master of Postulants (1995-1999), secretary for Initial Formation and Vocational Pastoral Care (1996-2002), second provincial Definitor (1999-2002), Master of Aspirants (2000), Master of the Post-Novitiate (2001), Superior of the Community (2006-2007), parish vicar (2006-2011), provincial Definitor and secretary for Pastoral and Apostolic Life (2008-2011), parish priest (2012-2017), provincial vicar and secretary for Ongoing Formation (2014-2017), secretary of the Conference of Capuchins in Brazil (2017-2018), provincial Minister of the Província do Paraná e Santa Catarina (2017-2023), and to date, parish priet of São Francisco de Assis in the diocese of Umuarama, in the State of Paraná.
