Credential Letters of the Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal to the Holy See, 28.08.2025

This morning, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the Holy Father Leo XIV received in audience His Excellency Mr. Isidor Marcel Sene, ambassador of the Republic of Senegal to the Holy See, on the occasion of the presentation of his credential letters.

The following is a brief biography of the new ambassador:

Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal to the Holy See

His Excellency Mr. Isidor Marcel Sene was born on 3 November 1976 in Fatick, Senegal. He is married and has a son.

He graduated in geography (1999) and was awarded a Maîtrise (2001) and a DEA (2002), as well as a doctorate in geography (2007). He also obtained the Brevet of the Ecole national d’Administration (ENA) (2009).

He has held the following offices, among others: temporary geography teacher (2001-2007), Advisor, Directorate of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2009-2012), First Advisor, Permanent Mission at the United Nations in New York (2012-2017), Technical Advisor, Cabinet of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2018-2021), formator, chargé for Courses in Economic Geography, Peace and Security, Ecole national d’Administration (ENA) (2018-2021), Minister-Advisor, Embassy to the United States of America (2021-2024), interim Chargé d’Affaires, Embassy to the United States of America (2024-2025).
