This morning, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the President of the Republic of Honduras, Her Excellency Ms. Iris Xiomara Castro Sarmiento, was received in audience by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. She subsequently met with His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, accompanied by His Excellency Archbishop Paul R. Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.

During the talks held at the Secretariat of State, reference was made to the good relations between Honduras and the Holy See. The role of both the Church and the State in the social and educational fields, and in the care of migrants, was discussed.

The conversation then turned to other topics of common interest regarding the current socio-political situation of the country and the region.
