Closing of the diocesan phase of the cause for the beatification of the Servant of God Alcide De Gaspari

The rite will be held tomorrow, Friday 28 February, at 12 noon
in the Lateran Apostolic Palace and will be presided over
by Cardinal Vicar Baldassare Reina

Tomorrow, 28 February 2025, at 12 noon, in the Lateran Apostolic Palace, the closing session of the diocesan enquiry into the life, heroic virtues, reputation for holiness and signs of the Servant of God Alcide De Gasperi, layman and family man, will be held. The rite will be presided over by Cardinal Vicar Baldassare Reina.

The diocesan enquiry was undertaken initially by the ecclesiastical Court of the archdiocese of. Trento. The prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, after obtaining the assent of both the archbishop of Trento and the cardinal vicar of the Holy Father for the diocese of Rome, transmitted the rescript, granting the transfer of the jurisdiction of the Court to the diocese of Rome.

The Court that conducted the diocesan enquiry in Rome is composed of Msgr. Giuseppe D'Alonzo, episcopal delegate; Fr. Andrea De Matteis, promoter of justice; and Marcello Terramani, notary actuary. Postulator of the cause of beatification and canonization is Dr. Paolo Vilotta.

All the procedural documents, in duplicate, sealed in sealed containers, will be handed over to Paolo Vilotta, appointed postulator, with the task of transmitting them to the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints.
