The rites of the Easter Triduum in Saint Peter’s Basilica

Good Friday, ostension of the relic of the Holy Cross

VATICAN, 15 April – The Basilica of Saint Peter in the Vatican is preparing for the rites of the Easter Triduum, in addition to what has already been made public by the Office of Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff (link).

On Holy Thursday, at 18.00, the Holy Mass in Coena Domini presided over at the Altar of the Cathedra of Saint Peter by Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, Archpriest of the Papal Basilica of Saint Peter in the Vatican and Vicar General of His Holiness for Vatican City State. The Eucharistic adoration at the Altar of the Reposition will continue until 22.00.

On Good Friday, at 9.00, at the Chapel of the Choir, the Office of readings and lauds. At the end, ostension of the relic of the Holy Cross from the Loggia of Veronica.

Holy Saturday, at 9.00, at the Chapel of the Choir, the Office of readings and lauds.

Easter Sunday Holy Masses at 7.00 (Altar of the Choir), 12.30 and 16.00 (Altar of the Cathedra), at 17.00 (Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament) and 18.00 (Altar of the Cathedra).

At 17.00, procession in the Basilica with aspersion of Holy Water at the Baptistery, passage through the Holy Door, prayer and pause at the Gregorian Madonna and veneration at the tomb of Saint Peter. To be followed by the recitation of solemn Vespers.
