PRESS NOTE

MODIFICATIONS TO PILGRIMAGES TO THE HOLY DOORS
FOR THE JUBILEE OF TEENAGERS

On the days 23, 24 and 25 April 2025, all those who wish may carry out their Jubilee pilgrimage through the Holy Door of Saint Peter’s Basilica to then pay their final respects to Pope Francis. For security reasons, the protected route from Piazza Pia, dedicated to pilgrims, will not be open, and so the pilgrimage will have to take place following the procedures indicated by the authorities.

On Friday 25 April it will be possible to cross the Holy Door of Saint Peter’s Basilica from 7.00 to 19.00.

On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 April, the Holy Door of Saint Peter’s will remain closed from the morning until 15.00, on Saturday for the funeral of the Holy Father, and on Sunday for the Holy Mass in memory of Pope Francis with the participation of teenagers, which will begin at 10.30 in Saint Peter’s Square. From 15.00 onwards it will again be possible to carry out pilgrimages to the Holy Door of the Basilica.

It is also announced that the Holy Door of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major will be closed all day on Saturday 26 April. However, in these days it will be possible to make pilgrimages to the Holy Doors of the Basilicas of Saint Paul Outside-the-Walls and Saint John Lateran without the need to book.

Those who would have made their pilgrimage to the Holy Doors which have undergone changes of timetable and availability may live their pilgrimage by going to the Holy Doors of other Basilicas.
