PRESS RELEASE
New Vatican Philately and Numismatics underway from July
During recent months, the Governorate of Vatican City State has undertaken a necessary and wide-ranging process of revision and renewal of the State Mint and its Philatelic and Numismatic Marketing activities, aimed at ensuring greater efficiency, quality and transparency in every aspect of its operations. This process involved the entire supply chain: from internal management policies to product design, and the redefinition of more secure, digital and accessible distribution channels.
New identity, renewed production, sustainable packaging and completely redesigned sales channels: these are the pillars on which the Governorate of Vatican City State has based the relaunch of the State Mint and the Philatelic and Numismatic Sales Network (Commercializzazione Filatelica e Numismatica, CFN) activities.
Registration of clients: new platform, new procedures | After an important phase of updating and revision of the management of the client data already held in the CFN registers – in accordance with the provisions of Decree No. DCLVII of 30/04/2024 on personal data protection – the system is also preparing to welcome new collectors. Indeed, with the launch of the new platform (www.cfn.va), registration will be possible for those who were not previously eligible, guaranteeing wider and more inclusive access. The new registration procedures not only strengthen the CFN in terms of personal data protection, but also introduce concrete tools for transparency and control, ensuring all collectors and enthusiasts – current and future – a safer, more responsible digital experience that meets the highest regulatory standards.
A new sales model: online, accessible, participatory | The main innovation regards sales procedures: from early July, collectors and enthusiasts from all over the world will be able to purchase Vatican City State philatelical and numismatic products online, via a completely renewed e-shop. The new platform has been designed to offer a modern, intuitive purchase experience, open to collectors from all over the world. The entire sales strategy has been revised under the banner of transparency and wider accessibility: indeed, the logic of pre-allocation will be overcome, in favour of more participatory, impartial and accessible distribution criteria, designed to meet the needs of an increasingly broad and diversified philatelic and numismatic community. In addition, for particular product lines, distribution will also be extended through commercial partners selected by the Governorate.
Sustainability: genuine commitment | In this renewal activity, great attention was also paid to environmental sustainability and the search for more ecological and responsible solutions, both in product design and in the choice of materials. Every aspect of the new offer – from packaging to information supports – has been redesigned to reduce environmental impact, adopting green criteria and materials that are entirely recyclable or at least have a low ecological impact, fully consistent with the principles of sustainable development and green transition promoted by Vatican City State.
Production always active, even during renovation | During these months of renovation, philatelic and numismatic production never stopped: products dedicated to the Pontificate of Pope Francis, the Holy Year 2025, the Sede Vacante 2025 and the inauguration of the Pontificate of Pope Leo XIV were regularly produced.
The future of Vatican philately and numismatics is already here: more accessible, more sustainable, closer to collectors and enthusiasts all over the world.
