Cardinal Parolin to open the International Seminar “Creation, Nature, Environment for a World of Peace” in the Vatican
The event of the Pontifical Academy of Theology will be held on 11 and 12 September
Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See, will inaugurate the international seminar entitled “Creation, Nature, Environment for a World of Peace”, to be held on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 September in the Casina Pio IV in the Vatican. Organized by the High Studies Council of the Pontifical Academy of Theology, the event will be structured in four thematic panels and will involve the participation of ecclesial, entrepreneurial, social and cultural figures from all over the world. “All over the world, we are witnessing a relentless succession of social, economic and technological events that force us to reflect on the present and the future, on everything that surrounds us. Even the Church is not immune to this obligation. She asks herself, and asks people of good will, what paths to follow in order to protect and reaffirm the common good and peaceful coexistence in the name of peace and well-being”, explains the president of the Pontifical Academy of Theology, Msgr. Antonio Staglianò.
During the two days – which will take as a point of reference Pope Leo’s Message for the Tenth World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation 2025, Saint Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Creatures, Pope John Paul II’s Encyclical Redemptor hominis, Pope Benedict XVI’s reflection on the ecology of man, and Pope Francis’ Encyclical Laudato siì and the Apostolic Exhortation Laudate Deum – the speakers will focus on the challenges faced by humanity today and the need to work together for a renewed integral human development.
The study sessions will conclude with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Msgr. Staglianò in Saint Peter’s Basilica at 17.30 on Friday 12 September and with the papal audience scheduled for Saturday 13 September at 11.00, in the Vatican. A detailed programme of the event is available on the site www.theologia.va.
