Towards the canonization of Pier Giorgio Frassati

The commitment and holiness of a youth for our time

In view of the canonization of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, Italian Catholic Action has promoted a journey of reflection and prayer that will culminate with the Public Conference “Inside life, inside history. The holiness of Pier Giorgio Frassati”, to be held in Rome on Saturday 6 September 2025 at 17.00 in the Great Hall of LUMSA (Borgo Sant’Angelo, 13).

The meeting will be opened by the national President of Catholic Action, Giuseppe Notarstefano, and will include a speech from Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints.

This will be followed by reflections from: Roberto Falciola, deputy postulator of the cause of canonization, on Pier Giorgio and friendship; Luca Liverani, journalist for Avvenire, and Rosanna Tabasso, president of Sermig, on Pier Giorgio and commitment to peace; and Tatiana Giannone, Office of the Presidency of Libera, on Pier Giorgio and commimtment to social justice. The meeting will be moderated by Gennaro Ferrara, journalist for TV2000.

The day will continue at 20.30 with a Prayer Vigil in preparation for the canonization, presided over by Msgr. Claudio Giuliodori, general ecclesiastical assistant of Catholic Action, in the Basilica of San Giovanni Battista dei Fiorentini (Via Acciaoli, 2).

To introduce this event and to share the journey that will accompany the canonization, on Thursday 4 September 2025, at 12.00, a press conference will be held at the national headquarters of Italian Catholic Action in Via della Conciliazione 1 (second floor). The speakers will be: His Eminence Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints; the postulator of Pier Giorgio Frassati, Dr. Silvia Correale; the national president of Italian Catholic Action, Giuseppe Notarstefano; and the general ecclesiastical assistant of Italian Catholic Action, Msgr. Claudio Giuliodori.
