From 17 to 19 September 2025, at the headquarters of the Pontifical Theological Institute “John Paul II” (Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano 4, Rome) the Jubilee and Synodal Meeting for the Discernment of Hope on the Future of Life and the Family, will be held between representatives of centres of formation in the Social Doctrine of the Church of Latin America and the Caribbean, with the participation of guests from various centres across the five continents.
The Meeting is intended to listen to, discern and initiate processes of cultural and structural transformation in response to the challenges faced by families in the peripheries, especially in Latin America and the Caribbean, in dialogue with other regions of the world.
The Meeting is convened by the Latin American Network of Social Thought of the Church (REDLAPSI/CELAM) and is jointly organized by the Pontifical Theological Institute “John Paul II” (PTIJP II), the Pontifical Academy for Life (PAL), the Pontifical Commission for Latin America (PCLA) and the Latin American Episcopal Council (CELAM).
They count on the support of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life (DLFL), Caritas Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Latin American Confederation of Religious (CLAR).
Confrontd with the crisis reflected in educational, social and cultural variables, representatives of universities, community centres, social and ecclesial organizations from several continents will gather in Rome to listen to the voices and experiences of those who are experiencing this situation, to get to know how they live out their faith, and how close or distant they feel the Church to be.
The Church, through this Jubilee and Synodal Meeting, wishes to renew her commitment in defence of life and the family, building bridges of fraternity and hope for the new generations.
For the organizers, “what is at stake in all this situation is the dignity of life and the family; this is why we cannot close our eyes and stop observing the ‘signs of the times’, to initiate new processes of justice, relying on the synodal dynamic currently underway in the universal Church”, with particular attention to the young.
The meeting will conclude with a private audience with the Holy Father Leo XIV.
